The 2009 drupa Prize goes to Yasmin Temelli

Prof. Dr.Dr. H. Michael Piper (President of Heinrich-Heine-University), Dipl.-Ing. Martin Weickenmeier (President of drupa, Member of the Executive Board, Körber AG and CEO, Körber PaperLink GmbH), Dr. des. Yasmin Temelli, Werner M. Dornscheidt (President and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf).
Feminism and freedom of the press are the two central themes recognised by this year’s drupa Prize. To be more precise, the award-winning Ph.D. dissertation by Yasmin Temelli which is ready for publication focuses on women’s literature and its social relevance on the eve of the Mexican Revolution.

Issues Nos 3 and 4 of the “drupa report” were awarded one of the most coveted international design prizes, the “red dot” for outstanding design. Mr. Holger Giffhorn of Giffhorn Design, Wuppertal, is responsible for the design work of this publication, which already received other design awards previously. The quality seal is awarded annually during the international “red dot award: communication design“ to products with ambitious and innovative design work.

“FairFairs Hotel” service initiative commended Messe Düsseldorf wins UFI Operations Award 2008

On 1 October in Cologne, the delegates of the Operations Focus Meeting initiated by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) voted on trade fair companies’ best solutions and projects designed to enhance travel management and hotel conditions at trade fair locations, and thereby benefit exhibitors.
The UFI award is presented on a different theme each year. In addition to Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, the other finalists were Amsterdam RAI and Messe Frankfurt GmbH. With nearly 62 percent of the votes, the Düsseldorf-based trade fair organiser’s FairFairs Hotel initiative was the clear winner.

After drupa, it’s time for drupa: fully in keeping with this motto, the drupa 2012 Committee met for its constitutive session in Düsseldorf on 23 September. The Committee unanimously voted Dipl.-Ing. Martin Weickenmeier, Member of the Executive Board, Körber AG, and CEO, Körber PaperLink GmbH, the new President of drupa.

Facts and Figures of drupa

The mood at drupa 2008 could hardly have been better. From 29 May to 11 June in Düsseldorf, around 390,000 visitors from 140 countries and approx. 3,000 journalists from 84 nations obtained information about innovations, further developments and new business areas, while talk was of numerous billion-figure investments. As a result, drupa was able to further extend its global market significance and international standing. This is confirmed by the now-published visitor survey conducted by an independent market research institute.

Tours focusing on ten topical themes
Guided tours spotlighting current industry developments will be staged at drupa 2008. The palette of topics runs from workflows and web2print through offset and digital printing to packaging production and finishing.

The Compass Sessions, organised by the Bundesverband Druck und Medien (German Printing and Media Industries Federation) will give the lowdown on brandnew innovationa. Each Compass Session will have a different thematic slant and pick up on current industry trends. Aside from passing on knowledge, the Compass Sessions will also act as the ideal “navigational aid” and meeting point for getting together with colleagues and talking shop.
