Good marks for Graphispag 2007

General satisfaction, fulfilled participation objectives and good assessment of the trade contacts made. These are main conclusions of the opinion poll carried out among Graphispag exhibitors and visitors which Fira de Barcelona presented to the members of the Organising Committee.
In the meeting held recently in the Molí Paperer de Capellades Museum, the show’s director, Xavier Pascual, explained that 80% of the 468 direct exhibitors had fulfilled their participation objectives; 9% still did not know, since their assessment is long term and 11% had not obtained the results they expected. Compared to the 2003 opinion poll, there was a 14% increase in satisfied exhibitors.
The main reasons for participating in Graphispag were, in this order: to contact new clients; to present products and new products; prestige and image; to make contact with regular clients; to widen the distribution network and to get purchase orders, among others.
According to Xavier Pascual, exhibitors gave trade contacts made at Graphispag a score of 3.78 out of 5. Visitor quality was one of the most valued characteristics. In this sense, 80% of exhibiting companies thought they would participate in the next show; 16.3% were considering it and 3.7% said they will not participate.
Visitor profile

The show’s director reminded the members that the Graphispag had attracted around 55,000 trade visitors, 16% more than in 2003. 94% of visitors were Spanish and 6% were foreign. The largest number of national visitors came from Catalonia, the Community of Valencia, Madrid, Andalusia, the Basque Country, Aragon and Galicia, in that order. Portugal, France, Italy and Germany were the main countries of origin of foreign visitors.
By sector, 19% of visitors work in printing field 18% in graphic design. 15.2% work in other fields; 9% in prepress; 7% in materials; 5% in packaging; 4.5% in digital printing; and 3.5% in screen printing. 62% of visitors were executives and technicians with decision making power, which explains the increase in trade contacts made at this year’s show.
70% of pollees attended the show to find out about new products and the evolution of the sector. 34% specified that their main aim was to make contact with companies and 20% to make purchasing decisions. The majority spent one day at the show and visited between 5 and 10 stands.
Pollees ranked the quantity and quality of exhibitors and the variety of exhibits very highly. 43% of visitors were first timers, while 57% had already visited previous shows. Overall, 92% stated they would come to the next show.
The president of the Organising Committee, Miquel Heredia, attributed the good results to the high expectations created, the involvement of guilds and associations in promotion, the contents of the technical sessions and the fact of opening the show to new demand sectors.
graphispag_digital 2009

Given the four-yearly frequency of Graphispag, the next event for the graphics sector will be graphispag_digital, which will be held in Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via exhibition centre. This new show will feature a wide range of graphics technology exhibits for the prepress, digital printing, screen printing and pad printing sectors.
The last meeting of Graphispag 2007’s Organising Committee was held in the Molí Paperer de Capellades Museum, close to Barcelona. Prior to the meeting, the members of the Committee visited the museum, an 18th century paper mill. There they were able to see the important collections of machinery, papers and documents of great historic value and find out about the manual paper manufacturing process, following the explanations of the museum director, Victoria Rabal.
