drupa report daily
The Indian print ambassador
01/06/2008
Messe Düsseldorf organised a special birthday surprise for Viren Chhabra on the second day of the trade fair.
The editor-in-chief and founder of Printing Times and senior director of NPES India Market Access celebrated his 80th birthday with a visit to drupa. Messe Düsseldorf’s Monika Kissing presented the guest of honour with a marzipan birthday cake at the drupa report daily’s stand. Chhabra, who was accompanied by his wife Rami, has been a drupa attendee from the very first hour.
“Printing has been my passion ever since my first drupa in 1956,” he said. Chhabra spent many years as the technical director for Indian newspaper The Statesman and has had a decisive influence on the conversion from letterpress printing to coldset-offset. In India, Chhabra is seen as the print ambassador who has helped the Indian printing industry take a major step into the future.
