GBC celebrates breaking the world record for laminating
It was tense at GBC’s stand D05 in hall 11 as the first speed record at a drupa was being attempted.
Monitored by Gaz Deaves, the official examiner of Guinness World Records, GBC’s super fast 8500HS Cyclone laminator broke the world record for sealing 100 metres of paper in a breath-takingly fast 40.53 seconds.
The new machine processes sheet widths of up to 112 centimetres while a Mabeg high performance sheet feeder for processing up to 18,000 sheets per hour is integrated with the machine.
A new advanced adhesion mechanism is also integrated that assures good adhesion regardless of the operating speed. After successful lamination, the sheets are separated by a vacuum device mounted on rails before they reach the stacker. The complete system is controlled and run by a single operator via the main monitor.
