Dobson & Crowther hopes to boost productivity by a fifth following a £2.5m investment in a five-colour size-6 Roland 900 press with coater.
The manroland investment, which was signed at drupa, will mean the north Wales, UK-based printer, which already churns out 500m envelopes a year, can now produce high-gloss prints with-out the environmental concerns of UV.
It will also add to its green credentials as it will run the press alcohol free. The new press will be complemented by a Tharsten MIS suite for JDF and JMF workflows to reduce makeready times.
Dobson & Crowther managing director Paul Holden said: "We believe that a print business has to invest to move forward."
