Non-stop coldfoil is 'hot'
10/06/2008
The Infigo sub-frame is mounted with a splicer and foil storage
Dutch Vinfoil in Hall 12 has engineered what is claimed to be the world's first retrofitable foiler that can be fit to any printing unit of any sheetfed offset press, using a non-stop foil supply. Plant manager Geert van der Putten said: "We started developing this foiler last year, and we have managed to now show our Infigo SF 105 at drupa. And there has been a lot of attention for it."
The Infigo sub-frame, on which a splicer and a foil storage are mounted, is installed behind a sheetfed offset press. The upper structure guides the foil web to the print unit on which the foil will be transferred to the printsheet. The splicer allows for changing the foil core while the press is still running, making it a non-stop process.
