CITO is one of the leading companies worldwide in the area of print processing. Manufacturing is based in the Nuremberg area at three locations, with a total production area of around 6,000 m². The CITO group of companies also has subsidiaries in the UK, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. CITO employs around 200 staff throughout Europe. Products are manufactured in-house and marketed by around 60 local agencies around the world. The products and services are split into three business areas – BoxLine, FormLine and PrintLine.
BoxLine: This area deals with converting on flat bed die cutters with steel rule dies. In the creasing sector, CITO’s core competency, they have some newly-developed systems ¬¬¬–¬¬ DYNAMIC and PROplus will be presented as a world premiere at drupa. CITO have developed a special new material for these systems called CITOTHAN. This is the first time ever that a material has been developed specially for the creasing process in the paper, carton and corrugated cardboard converting sector. To be able to guarantee a high quality standard for this material, they manufacture CITOTHAN at their own factory in Diepersdorf near Nuremberg. CITOTHAN constitutes a novel, high-density composite material. The familiar problem of delamination which occurs with the old pressboard material has been completely eliminated with this new development, yet finishing with a knife is still easy and convenient.
Also being presented is the own product CITO TAPE, the self-adhesive special patching tape. This is an enhanced product offering improved adhesion and more metres per roll.
FormLine: This product group offers components for cutting dies. Here too, CITO relies as much as possible on its own products and on close cooperation. This enables them to incorporate technical know-how and research results from their own development department. Additional products will also be showcased in Düsseldorf alongside various rubber profiles and a specific Pertinax. CITO is building on close cooperation with users in diemaking for the FormLine range – this is how lively exchanges of ideas are made and where joint product development happens. The idea is to implement the motto “Products from the diemaker for the diemaker”. For CITO, the focus is not just on short-term economic success, but far more on the long-term ability to offer new materials and accessories specially developed for use in the cutting die. The following statement made on this subject by CITO company boss Jürgen Marien is quite clear: “Every day we need to understand more about what bothers our customers and turn their challenges into our own. The cutting die market doesn’t need just another dealer, it needs a partner who can work together on success with its customers.” As a logical consequence of this, CITO will be presenting their own new range of rules.
PrintLine: This range covers the inline finishing process on the printing press and hence is another manifestation of CITO’s core competencies. Creasing, diecutting and perforating –
whether in flat bed or rotary form or simply in a printing unit. Stand no. E39, Hall 10 in Düsseldorf will be hosting an additional exhibition premiere – the presentation of the RSP 2.0 inline finishing system. A demonstration of the system will be set up on a Heidelberg SM 52 printing press. Its much-simplified handling and maximised flexibility will be clearly evident. There is now the option with this new system of using grid sheets with their own tooling setup or now also direct fit flexible dies. Using direct fit flexible dies on the RSP 2.0 base plate makes for a much simpler production process and reduces costs for the flexible dies used. Again, the new base plate and RSP direct fit flexible dies are of course patented. RSP 2.0 was making an impression even before it was introduced onto the market which resulted in a large number of advance orders being received prior to drupa. The RSP System 2.0 is being offered to existing RSP users with particularly favourable special terms, so that all long-standing customers can enjoy the easier handling and the increased flexibility without a significant outlay.
