drupa 2016: Positive reactions worldwide

Only a few more weeks and drupa will take a decisive step forward. Because then, the approximately 1,300 already registered companies will receive their approval. From that moment on, visitors will have the possibility to gather information in the new database on our website in order to specifically prepare their trade fair visit.

And the signs are favourable. This is what the positive reactions of the national and international companies, with which we had intensive discussions in recent weeks, show us. They are all looking forward to next year’s event and are convinced that drupa will send out strong and sustainable signals to the market. Undoubtedly, we are on the right track with our concept, and already today we promise our visitors that drupa 2016 will provide impulses as well as orientation for every market participant.

With kind regards from Düsseldorf
The drupa team

Innovative conference programme at drupa 2016

drupa cube 2016

drupa cube – The conference and event programme at drupa 2016 – will start with a new approach. The focal points are the innovative strength of print and the great variety of application possibilities of printed products through the most varied industries and areas of life. "New technologies such as printed electronics and 3D printing, creative multichannel applications or the use of digital printing techniques, for example in the packaging sector, continue to impressively prove the potential of print."

"drupa cube reflects this future potential with its international conference and event programme", is how Sabine Geldermann, Director of drupa, explains drupa cube’s objective target. "At the same time, it is important to us to bridge the gap between creative agencies, marketers, brand owners and vertical markets with an interdisciplinary approach."

Welcome to drupacity!

To end a trade fair day at drupa in a relaxed manner and to experience Düsseldorf as an attractive exhibition venue

drupacity 2016

It is the goal of drupacity to transport the trends of the trade fair into the city and to make the latest developments of the print and media industry come alive. Some of the highlights in 2016 will be a 3D printer event programme in the city centre as well as a rolling 3D laboratory. However, also selected hotels, shopping arcades and restaurateurs are committed to the initiative with campaigns and platform events specifically created for drupacity. The programme is intended for exhibitors and visitors as well as for the citizens of Düsseldorf.

In June of this year, within the scope of the UFI Open Seminar in Europe in Istanbul, Destination Düsseldorf Veranstaltungs-GmbH successfully presented the “drupacity 2016“ concept as an international prime example regarding the topic of “Destination Marketing”.

Edible packaging reduces waste
Conventional plastic cups are highly convenient but not eco-friendly at all. They contribute to plastic waste in landfills, as most are not recyclable. It is estimated that 2.5 billion disposable cups are thrown away each year. Industrial designers Chelsea Briganti and Leigh Ann Tucker who met while attending Parsons New School for Design in New York believed there had to be a better way to consume cold beverages on the go. They developed edible cups in a variety of flavors as an eco-friendly alternative to disposable plastic cups. A brilliant idea!
