Packaging inspired by Nature and Intelligent Supply Chains

Antibacterial packaging modeled after natures example

Cicadas and Dragonflys are just creepy-crawlies? Not at all. We can get inspired by and profit from them! RMIT, Tokyo Metropolitan University and Mitsubishi Chemical’s The KAITEKI Institute set a great example for this: They have partnered to reduce waste and extend the shelf life of packaged food, by using the bacteria killing abilities of the cicada and dragonfly wings to create a nanotexture that protects the food. It can be printed on plastic and yet retain its bacteria destroying effect - a great step towards a more sustainable future.
