TRI UV

Following the success of Benford’s Dual UV© system which gives usersStandard UV and Eco UV in one system, Benford UV launches TRI-UV© at DRUPA 2016.
Dual UV© was launched at IPEX 2014and has been very successful allowing Benford’s customers to decide on the technology required for each job and by changing the lamp head the technology is changed .
With the continued growth in interest for LED UV, Benford combines LED UV with their current Dual UV©system launching TRI-UV© at DRUPA 2016
TRI-UV© takes DualUV© a stage further by providing Standard, Eco and LED UV as one system allowing customers to switch from technology to technology as required by simply changing lamp heads.
LED UV has the advantage of having almost 100% of its output in a specific wave length that directly matches the photo initiator in the specially formulated UV curable inks. This is of course much more efficient than Standard UV where a lot of the output light energy is not needed and is therefore wasted.
LED UV emits very little heat energy onto the substrate making it most suitable for printing of very heat sensitive substrates and, as with Eco UV, because of the longer UV wave length emitted no Ozone is produced which eliminates the need to exhaust to the outside of the working environment. However it must be considered that there are quite a few limitations with LED UV, coatings being one example. There is no substitute for Standard UV for this application and of course standard UV coatings are considerable cheaper.

Standard UV

Standard UV has been the main stay of Benford UV’s portfolio since it formation some 10 years ago. The Standard UV uses standard UV lamps and UV curable inks and has been installed on many new and existing presses worldwide and has become the “system of choice” for many major printers.
With reduced moving parts and very low energy stand by the systems are one of the most reliable on the market today. Chosen by several OEM’s and major printers alike the Benford Standard UV is setting standards of a long established technology.

LED UV

Following a lot of deliberation. investigation and testing Benford UV launch their own LED UV system for DRUPA 2016.

Whilst the efficiency of LED Technology is not questionable, in most circumstances Benford UV see its application for specialist, niche markets where Classic UV and Eco UV do not meet the demands of the customers or the customer’s customer!! In fact its main application will probably be in conjunction with their two other technologies, Classic and Eco in the form of TRI-UV allowing the user to switch technologies by just changing a lamp head. However the system is available as a stand alone LED UV System.
Already installed and running it is proving to be a successful part of the Benford UV portfolio.

Infra Red

Benford UV design and install medium wave infra red drying systems designed to provide additional drying in the delivery of offset presses when printing with conventional offset inks.
Installed in the press delivery the heat energy dries the ink more quickly and therefore reduces the need for spray powders. This provides a cleaner print and a cleaner press delivery.
Calculated and designed to the press and print speeds this can be a low cost option to help printers improve print quality, speed and turn around.

Eco UV™


Benford UV designed and developed Eco UV to reduce the energy consumed by normal UV systems. Using a single UV lamp and in conjunction with Specially formulated UV curable, low energy inks, Benford UV have designed a high performance system that is low energy and has no emissions to the working environment.
With many systems now installed worldwide it has become both a cleaner and efficient method of UV printing plus it offers and affordable entry to UV printing for the smaller printer.

Air-Jet©


With the continued use of water based coatings Benford UV offers a hot air drying system, the Air-Jet© designed to dry water based coatings at full press speed. A series of hot air nozzles fitted with short wave infra red directs both infra red and hot air onto the coating surface, this heats the surface and evaporates the moisture and at the same time the hot air removes the moisture from the surface. Finally, a balanced extraction system is installed, which takes the moister laden air out of the press delivery thus preventing the moisture laden air falling back onto the coating.

This allowed for Eco UV™ inks to be printed and cured followed by standard UV coatings cured end of press by Standard UV lamps. If no coating is applied then end of press could be swapped to a single Eco UV™ lamp which will cure at full press speed when of course using the latest low energy cure inks.
At DRUPA 2016 Benford launches LED UV and combines this with the Standard UV and Eco UV™ making the latest Benford TRI-UV © This provides printers with total flexibility, swapping lamp heads to provide the most suitable curing system for each and every job.
Of course for those who have been printing UV ink before or have, and need, a specific application Benford can supply a standalone system technology to meet this specific demand.
Benford also supplies full service support for their own system not only providing installation but printer support for those who have not printed with UV technology before. Benford employs an experienced UV printer that will stay with the installation until the printers are confident in using the new technology.
