Strapping

Apex strapping printer systems are designed to print a variety of different strapping materials of various widths to provide high quality multi-color printed images with close registration capability between colors. The Apex system can be configured in up to 4 colors, offering capability and quality solutions not previously available.

Apex Strap Printers can be engineered to run as stand-alone off-line systems or, alternatively can be configured to run in line with a customer’s extruders in multi-lane configurations at production rates of up to 375 feet per minute per lane.

Saw Blade Printing

Advances in UV cured Ink Jet technology have now reached the stage where reliable, high speed, multi-color, single-pass continuous motion printing can be offered for a variety of parts applications. The ability to customize products individually has many potential applications across a wide range of industry sectors - please enquire for more details.

This is a print technique in which digital images formed by means of desk top processing allows direct on-press printing. As in all offset printing, the ink is first applied to a blanket. In multi color work, each color is applied sequentially with rotation of the blanket drum. All colors are then, in a final rotation of the blanket drum, transferred simultaneously to the substrate. Because each print transfers 100 percent of the blanket's image to the substrate, the blanket may then receive a totally different image from the one just printed.

Hot Stamp /Foil

This is a dry process using a relieved, backward reading, rigid, metal plate to print color carried by foil. The dry color is laminated to a carrier, such as mylar, in a roll format with layered coatings that first enhance release and then adhesion. For each impression, a fresh section of foil is delivered by the system to a heated die, which presses it against the product, transferring the image from the die to the product. The systems are available in flat bed as well as rotary versions.

S-40 Printer for Food Packaging Lids

This derivation of the well proven Apex S-40 type machine has been specifically designed for printing onto the tops of food container lids. The machine is available to handle a variety of sizes, depending on customer requirements.

The operation involves the operator loading stacks of orientated lids into an infeed automatic scroll assembly. The scroll assembly will release the bottom lid from the stack and place it in between the set guide rails of our S-40 style base assembly.

A linear, continuous motion dual chain assembly with pushers at proper centers will come from behind the lid and carry it throughout the remainder of the machine. The first station the part will enter is a treating station where the surface will be pre-treated using an Apex flame treating system for proper print and adhesion quality.

Following the flame treating station is a 6-color dry offset print station. The next station is an Apex UV dryer to cure the ink before the lids exit out of the system and into an automatic re-stacker system. The complete system has an approximate production rate of 100 parts per minute.

CS-45 Spark Plug Insulator Printers

The Apex CS-45 is a complete system for feeding, loading, printing and coating ceramic insulators, providing inline cleaning, pre-heating, printing, glazing and pre-curing.

Apex Spark Plug Insulator PrinterSubsequently to the loading station is a pre-cleaning station where the insulators are pre-cleaned using air and vacuum. This is followed by a pre-heat station where the insulator is heated prior to its entrance into the print station. In the print station, the appropriate graphics are printed circumferentially around the insulator in up to four colors, utilizing the standard dry offset printing process.

Following the print station is a flame curing station where the insulator is flame cured before entering into a clear coating or glazing station. In the clear coat or glaze station, a uniform thickness of clear coat is applied via a spray unit prior to the product being indexed into a pre-cure station. The glaze will then be pre-cured prior to exiting the product into either a bin or an exit conveyor unit.

The system can be designed to suit particular line speed requirements.
