About us

Company details

Since 1883 Stamfag AG successfully produces a variety of ram-punch dies used in the process of manufacturing wet strength paper, aluminum- and synthetic materials based labels; playing- and credit cards composed of a variety of substrates complement the portfolio of possibilities. Within these areas of expertise, Stamfag has evolved to being a globally acting leader.

It was about 20 years ago that Stamfag AG introduced a revolutionary high die to the market. This newly developed die served the customer with a never before seen durability, a multiple of the punching performance and highest accuracy while maintaining an optimum in serviceability. Made from an aluminum die-body joined with a cutting-crown, the professional world acknowledges this die as “the original”.

In order to pave the road for the future and guarantee the continuation of the company with its vast technical knowledge, Stamfag AG was sold to Leuthold Mechanik AG (HLM) in January of 2011. This step resulted in a change of domicile from Küsnacht to Einsiedeln. Consequently, 100% of development and manufacturing of punching dies remains in Switzerland.

Leuthold Mechanik AG, established in 1978 by key shareholder Heinz Leuthold, is the global market leader in manufacturing tools and equipment for the aluminum packaging industry. Using highly modern manufacturing equipment, HLM serves their customers by producing demanding custom solutions in the areas of machinery, equipment and tooling.

For HLM, Stamfag is a sensible and logical extension of a prospering market segment. Thanks to the concerted use of existing synergies between the two companies, medium- and long-term objectives can be met even better.

Through the combined strength, the market position of Stamfag AG is crucially reinforced and the company is fully prepared to meet future business challenges.
