With the FP 70, KNF has added another low pulsation pump to the smooth flow series. The new pump combines the low pulsation from gear and centrifugal pumps and the strengths known from diaphragm pumps.
Reliable transfer of precious liquids
The KNF FP 70 is self-priming and can run dry, handles the liquid transfer gently and cleanly and is chemically resistant. Thanks to the integration of pulsation dampening technology, there is no need for additional pulsation dampening elements and tubing when using the KNF FP 70. That means, the pump can operate with particularly low pulsation even where space is limited.
The system’s requirements also come first when selecting the motor: The smooth flow pump can be equipped with motors of different performance classes, and their parameters can be precisely customized.
The KNF FP 70 achieves a flow of up to 850 ml/min. and is developed for an operation up to 2 bar (29.4 PSIG) pressure. Furthermore, the patented 4-point-valves ensure the reliable self-priming of the pump. Thus, no additional priming pump is required.

The EPDM or PTFE-coated diaphragm ensures safe use with aggressive and/or corrosive media. Its chemically resistant design and very high tolerance of vapor and condensate means the N 96 can be used with a broad spectrum of media at temperatures of up to 70 degrees Celsius. These pumps can transfer, evacuate and compress media oil-free and without contamination.
The new versions of this pump offer significant advantages when integrated into other devices. The wide-range power supply unit mounted to the compressor housing enables the pump to be used across the globe, regardless of the local power grid voltage. The pump head can also be rotated in 90-degree intervals, allowing for the connections to be positioned as needed. Fastening holes located on the side of the pump housing facilitate tubeless connection via o-ring adapters attached to a manifold.
Since the highly efficient brushless DC motor can be controlled by PWM, a control loop can be established and even complex operating profiles can be dynamically represented. The N 96 emits relatively little heat itself while being suited for use at ambient temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius. The pump can start up without discharge in the range of 2.5 bar relative pressure to 100 mbar abs vacuum. The flow rate is as high as 8.5 l/min. In response to customer requests, KNF has expanded the pump series to include several new versions, allowing for an even greater variety of applications.
When the NPK 012 was introduced in 2019, it proved to be just what the market needed: a powerful pump with special features. Thanks to its high-power density, it quickly drew attention and customers soon requested specifications that would expand the areas of application. KNF now responds with a product update that meets these requirements along with the desire for shorter installation times. Among the most striking changes is the electrical connector. Not only does it speed up the integration of the pump when compared with the previous model using stranded wire, it also protects the motor connection against reverse polarity.
Based on long-term internal testing, the temperature range was expanded to accommodate media at temperatures of up to 60 degrees Celsius/ 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The tests showed that using the pump at higher temperatures did not adversely affect the lifespan of the product.
Thanks to the KNF modular system, an optional cover is now available for the NPK 012 pump housing, which offers improved safety protection. This is especially useful when the device itself lacks sufficient protection and means less work for the customer and thus lower costs. An optional base plate with a flexible bore pattern makes mounting the pump a breeze and compensates for vibrations.
The brushless DC motor allows for excellent control. With maximum power consumption of just 43 W, the NPK 012 builds up 2.5 bar/ 36.26 psig of high, continuous positive pressure, and up to 5 bar/ 72.52 psig during intermittent operation. The pump achieves an ultimate vacuum of up to 140 mbar abs/ 25.77 inHg, with a flow rate as high as 13.5 l/min. The NPK 012 delivers this high level of performance quietly and with minimal vibration. This prevents the ink from flowing through the pump head uncontrolled – even when the ink container is positioned upstream of the pump. An integrated resonating chamber absorbs turbulences caused by negative pressure peaks, thereby ensuring that ink is transferred gently. The powerful five for the printing industry - KNF at virtual.drupa 2021
From April 20 to 23, leading experts in the printing industry will meet at virtual.drupa. The world’s largest exhibition for print media – including specialist presentations and showrooms – will take place completely online. Diaphragm pumps for neutral and aggressive gases and liquids are configured in a modular system for versatile use. These pumps are used in many different settings, including for supplying print heads with inks and binders, recirculating pigmented inks, degassing, print head cleaning, purging and vacuum generation on the print head for the meniscus effect, and ink circulation.

FP 70 smooth flow pump
The FP 70 is the latest and the most compact pump to be added to the smooth flow series. Pulsation-damping technology is already integrated into this series, eliminating the need for further precautionary measures. The FP 70 combines the advantages offered by KNF’s diaphragm pumps with the key strengths of gear and centrifugal pumps. This self-priming pump features dry-run protection and ensures low-pulsation operation in a confined space. With its patented 4-point valves, the FP 70 reliably transfers inks and binders to the print head even at low rotational speeds. It is also chemically resistant and low-maintenance. No additional suction pump is needed in the printing system.
The diaphragm pump can achieve a flow rate of up to 850 ml/min and is designed to operate at pressures of up to 2 bar. As part of KNF’s modular system, the FP 70 can be customized with motors of various performance classes.
FP 150 with 5-diaphragm design
The FP 150 will also be making its debut at virtual.drupa. The maintenance-free diaphragm pump scores big with minimal pulsation and shearing force. With its special 5-diaphragm design, this pump is also self-priming and can operate dry. At the same time the very low pulsation level makes secondary measures to avoid pulsing superfluous. Depending on the system set-up and speed, the values at the pump outflow at nominal flow rate are below 150 mbar, meaning that even sensitive inks and binders can be transported gently. Another winning feature of the FP 150 is its infinitely adjustable flow rate of a maximum 1.3 l/min and outstanding linearity between 10 and 100 percent of this value. Not only that, but it is capable of resisting a back pressure of up to 2 bar.
The FP 150 is available in a range of different versions within the KNF modular system. With a choice of EPDM, PTFE or FFKM diaphragms, the pump can be equipped for applications involving very aggressive media.
Comprehensive options from the NMP 850 HP pump series
KNF is introducing the NMP 850 HP for degassing, vacuum generation on the print head for the meniscus effect, purging and print head cleaning in inkjet as well as for 3D printing systems. The versions of this comprehensive pump series are also suitable for vacuum generation for fixing 3D printing work pieces in place. This diaphragm pump’s parameters include a flow rate of up to 16 l/min, an ultimate vacuum of 200 mbar absolute and an operating pressure of 2.5 bar relative. Both a single-headed and a double-headed version of the NMP 850 HP are available with pump heads made of resilient PPS. The valves and seals are available in highly chemically resistant FFKM, FKM or EPDM, and the diaphragm in FKM, PTFE or EPDM.
The high-performance NPK 012
The NPK 012 can generate a flow rate of up to 13.5 l/min to purge and clean print heads of inkjet as well as 3D printing systems. The brushless DC motor allows for excellent adjustable control of the rotational speed. With a maximum power consumption of just 43 W, the NPK 012 builds up 2.5 bar of high, continuous positive pressure, and up to 5 bar during intermittent operation. The ultimate vacuum can reach up to 140 mbar abs. The NPK 012 delivers this high level of performance quietly and with minimal vibration.
N 96 for complex operating profiles
The N 96 is ideal for generating a vacuum to fix 3D printing work pieces in place. With a highly efficient brushless direct current motor and rotational speed control, the diaphragm pump can dynamically meet the requirements of complex operating profiles. The pump can start up without discharge in the range of 2.5 bar relative pressure / 100 mbar abs vacuum and achieves a flow rate of up to 8.5 l/min.
