In our web session you will be able to follow a complete folding carton production process on the newest generation of presses in a live demonstration:
●      Printing, cold-foil finishing and coating on the Rapida 106 X
●      Embossing, die-cutting, stripping and blanking on the CutPRO X 106
●      Gluing on the Omega Allpro 110

We will also be presenting the latest developments and best practices in printing applications on different substrates - for example in decor printing with the RotaJET platform. But we have also opened up further areas of application in corrugated printing and converting with the development of CorruJET, CorruCUT and CorruFLEX, which serve the constantly growing packaging sector. Koenig & Bauer is now developing the CorruJET together with joint venture partner Durst. The aim of the joint venture is to develop digital presses for the folding carton and corrugated industry. One milestone is the new VariJET 106, which will be shown for the first time at virtual.drupa. The hybrid press integrates inkjet technology into the platform of the high-performance Rapida 106 sheetfed offset press.

Flexibility plus precision

Our innovative K15 family is equipped with the latest generation of servo motordriven technology for the decoration of various article shapes (round, oval, square, flat, handled articles) in highest quality. It's flexible handling system for standing and lying article in-feed and out-feed enables shortest change-over times and the handling of plug on articles. Various decoration possibilities like screen printing, digital printing, hot-stamping and labelling can be realized on K15 and even combined in one run. Camera systems pre-register the articles based on any mark on the bottom or body to avoid mechanical register tooling. Furthermore, the K15 offers more potential to decrease production cost, e.g. for samples or small jobs a partly tooling set-up is possible.

The K15 family offers, as servo-driven turntable indexing system, 6 different diameter versions with up to 30 workstations for optimal adaption of your needs regarding functionality in accordance to available space requirements. The workstations can be equipped absolutely flexible in various combinations. Due to the solid basic design, the K15 is suitable for the decoration of glass-, plasticand metal articles. Single-Captured-Tooling guarantees perfect printing quality with an accuracy of +/-0.1 mm from color to color. A high performance relation of article print and article transport time results in maximum output quantity, while our optimized quickchange system is reducing the change-over times of K15 to a minimum. Our state-of-the-art, ergonomic control concept, incl. user-level-administration, remote control via internet as well as interface for production data collection fulfills all of today’s standards. The platform strategy guarantees already right now necessary future implementation of technical requirements.

Digital printing

The innovative digital printing process is completely integrated in K15 family. Servo-motoric driven article and print station movements enable the handling and decoration of any given article shape. Perfect pre-treatment of glass-, plasticand metal surfaces is available in order to guarantee a stable decoration process.

Sheetfed offset presses for UV production

Koenig & Bauer offers state-of-the-art sheetfed offset presses for printing with UV inks and finishing with UV coatings. They can be used with any series for sheet formats from 530 x 750 mm to 1,205 x 1,640 mm. Depending on the application, it is possible to print both in a conventional UV process, e.g. for packaging, and with LED-UV inks, e.g. for commercial products. If preferred, the Rapida presses are equally at home in an HR-UV process.

Codes on a wide variety of products are nothing new, but until now these codes have been printed on conventional printing machines and are therefore all the same. By using our lasers, the codes can now be individualised. The advantage here is that the individualised QR code can be applied very early in the process and the ID number can then be assigned different information over the life cycle.

What sets us apart here is the speed of the coding. Conventional belt speeds in packaging lines are usually between 10 - 100 m/min. Comparable laser systems are in this range. The use in printing presses, however, usually start at 300 m/min. Applications with 600 m/min up to 1000 m/min are also conceivable for our lasers. So we use our speed advantage here and offer our customers solutions that perhaps no one had thought of before.
